Spring 2014, Mt. Vernon High School’s Peer Mediators (many who are also SGA officers) collaborated with students from Indonesia.
Twenty-eight students enrolled in Mt.Vernon High School’s Peer Mediation class participated in the Peacekeeper lesson (from Jostens exclusive May Hello Box). Students analyzed peacekeepers in history, considered what peace is and the impact an individual can make by fighting for their beliefs and being a catalyst for change.
The Indonesian students visited the US for a month to learn about peer mediation/conflict resolution through a George Mason Program with funding from a State Department grant. The Jostens “Hello” Box sparked the curriculum lead by Jostens Renaissance advocate, Melinda Bloomquist.
