West Virginia School Superintendent Visits Local High School

INWOOD, W.Va. – The new state superintendent of schools in West Virginia, Dr. Michael Martirano, visited Musselman High School on Wednesday, as part of his trip across the Eastern Panhandle to meet with teachers and students.

Juniors and seniors from the school’s Student Council used the opportunity to present their efforts with the implementation of the Jostens Renaissance program, which seeks to boost GPA’s, increase attendance and grow graduation rates.

“This program that they developed through Jostens Renaissance is phenomenal, and to be able to explain that to him and show him how that’s changed Musselman High School is very exciting,” said Holly Kleppner, principal at Musselman High School.

Kleppner says Musselman is the center of the community, and that having the chance to show off the pride in the school and welcome the superintendent is very exciting.

“It’s always great when someone from the state department, especially the superintendent, comes to school and actually sees what goes on here throughout the day.”
